Believing That Everything Is Possible

What is inspiration? It is an experience of feeling your soul lifted above the cares and concerns of everyday life. Inspiration is being in a state of mind where everything is possible, everything is clear, and we feel at one with the universe.
Finding inspiration on a daily basis means aligning your heart and mind with the unlimited abundance of life, and consciously focusing on the possibilities that surround you. We may be able to create a state of inspiration by tuning into the magnificence of nature, by listening to beautiful music, reading inspiring words, or by looking at the miracles that are happening all around us every day.
So, what is inspiration in practical terms? It is the flow of energy that moves through us when we are in tune with our higher selves. It is the state in which we can create without effort. Our actions flow through us, and rather than trying to make things happen, we just have to surrender to the inspiration that we are experiencing, and let things happen.

This state is the ideal state to be in when we are performing our life’s work, whether that work is creating art, music, or poetry, running a business, raising a family, or helping and healing. Although it is true that relying on inspiration alone will sometimes mean that we are not as productive as we need or want to be, and that success is about hard work as well as being inspired, it is entirely possible to be inspired much more often.
Frequently, if you begin a task, such as sitting down to write an article, so long as this task is in line with your life purpose
, the inspiration will come. Many times I sit down to write without a feeling of burning inspiration, but as soon as I have opened a document, my ‘muse’ takes over, and I find my fingers flying over the keys, and the words pouring out, as if by themselves. If you wait to be inspired before you take action, you may find that you are not taking much action. Try getting started on something, and trust that the inspiration will follow.
By commencing on a project that you want to be inspired about, you put yourself in the mental and physical environment for the inspiration to come. If you are washing dishes and hoping to feel overwhelmed with enthusiasm for sculpting, you are very likely to be disappointed. If however, you get into your studio, and get some clay in your hands, it is much more probable that you will find the passion to create.
When I ask myself ‘what is inspiration?’ I think of the words of Michelangelo. Not only was Michelangelo an incredibly gifted artist, he was very much in tune with the essence of what is inspiration. I love this quote: “In every block of marble I see a statue as plain as though it stood before me, shaped and perfect in attitude and action. I have only to hew away the rough walls that imprison the lovely apparition to reveal it to the other eyes as mine see it.”
Inspiration is the ability to look at our life’s work, and to know that all we have to do to accomplish everything that needs to be done, is to put our hearts into the tasks that present themselves. To be instruments for the creation of beauty, and to let our work be expressed through us. To remove the unnecessary rough walls that imprison the lovely contributions that we all have to make to the world.
If you want to be inspired, and to truly understand what is inspiration, just step out of your own way. Stop blocking your own inspiration with excuses not to create what you are destined to create. Believe in your heart that you have something important to contribute, and then take action and start doing it. The inspiration will follow.
