The Difference Between
Wanting and Intending

The difference between wanting and intending may sound like a minor variation, and that seeking to understand this difference is splitting hairs, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. There is a completely different mindset, which in turn creates a completely different experience, coming from a place of wanting rather than a place of intending, determining or deciding.
There are various aspects to the experience of wanting, and one of these primary aspects is that wanting implies lack. Think of the phrase, “You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting.” The condition of wanting is actually the polar opposite of having, and it emphasizes the absence of what is desired. Considering the Law of Attraction, and the premise that attention to anything attracts more of the same, it is important to question the results that we achieve by allowing ourselves to focus on the feeling of wanting which encompasses not having and lack.
There is also the fact that wanting does not come from a place of empowerment. When you believe that you are capable of attaining whatever it is that you desire, your statements will be more along the lines of “I’m going to have a successful business,” rather than “I want to have a successful business.” The second statement implies that the desired outcome is uncertain, and in some way or ways beyond your control.
Declaring an intention to have, do, or be something sends a powerful message to your own subconscious, to those around you, and to the universal forces that unfailingly cooperate with whatever message you project. Rather than telling yourself and the Universe, “I want/my experience is wanting/I don’t have/I lack/my desire is unfulfilled/there is an absence of what I desire,” if you really do want to experience something in your life, start creating a new and influential way of talking and thinking about it. Use the difference between wanting and intending to your advantage, and start creating and maintaining a strong and vivid intention.
Make up your mind that you are going to have whatever it is that you desire, accept that your intention to have this experience in your life is a powerful creative force, and that if you hold steadfastly to the intention, all the cooperative components in the Universe will gather around that intention. You do not have to know how your intention is going to materialize, and this is what stops so many people from creating and maintaining powerful intentions that would bring them whatever they want. They don’t see how it’s going to happen, so they feel unable to declare and believe that it is going to happen.
While this is a natural and common situation, if you are going to harness the power of intention in your life, and tap into the infinite power of the Universe and the Law of Attraction, you have to find a way to build up your belief and confidence, and learn to stop wanting, wishing, and hoping, and start intending, declaring, and deciding.
There are many ways to begin doing this, and I would love to teach you some of these.
