Simple Prayers for Divine Support

Simple prayers are a powerful way to connect instantly with our Higher Power and to feel supported, guided and protected. One of the best ways to form easy and effective prayers is to start with a simple phrase of gratitude. Stating gratitude acknowledges that whatever we may feel is lacking is actually readily available to us at all times, and that we simply need to notice and accept it; to allow it into our lives.

Rather than pleading, “God, give me patience,” try praying, “I am thankful for the patience that I possess within, and ask for Your help in allowing it to flow through me now.” This can be followed up with, “Thank You for your support and guidance as I exercise more and more of my strength and patience in every moment.”

As well as using simple prayers of affirmation and gratitude, it is very helpful to give yourself thanks as well. Appreciate yourself for your own efforts in applying more of what you want in your own life. If you managed to keep your temper in just one out of five situations when you would normally lose it, then congratulate yourself. That is great progress, and deserves recognition. Appreciating our own efforts also helps encourage and empower us to create more and more of the things we want. Like small children, we respond to praise far more than we do to criticism.

Whatever thought, fear, or problem prompts you to seek the support of your Higher Power can form the basis for a simple, uplifting affirmative prayer.

One way we can use simple prayers is to help overcome fears and doubts. The following prayer is based on counteracting the fear that, “I am never going to find a life partner.”

“Thank You for Your love, and all the love that I already have in my life. I allow myself to fully enjoy and appreciate the connections that I have, especially my own connection with my Higher Self. Thank you for all the opportunities that I have to express the love I have to give, and I know that in its own perfect time, the perfect relationship is coming into my life. I am releasing all doubts and fears with your Divine support, and opening my heart to the unlimited opportunities that the Universe offers me to give and receive love.”

Simple prayers can be created to help guide us towards the situations and ideas that help us create anything we want to experience in our lives. In the instance of wanting to create a new and fulfilling career, try a prayer like the one below.

“I give thanks for all the skills, talents, experiences, and challenges that my life and my work have given me so far. I affirm that everything in my life is leading me towards ever increasing fulfillment. I only need to open my heart and mind to receive ideas and inspiration on how my career will take shape from this point. Thank you for the gifts and passions that are shaping the foundation of my ideal career. With Your support and encouragement, I am becoming clearer and more focused on the direction that is best for me. I allow strength and enthusiasm to flow through me and power me forward. Thank You for supporting me in taking continuous actions, one small step at a time, to create the life and the work that I love.”

When we are in moments of challenge, or difficulty, simple prayers of just a few words can be all we need to help us through with strength and courage. “Thank you for the clarity/wisdom/courage to handle this situation,” acknowledges, puts us in touch with and brings to the forefront the higher qualities that flow through us as beloved children of our Creator. At times, just “Thank You” with the thought of the quality that we seek to express in a situation is enough. Simple prayers can simply help us plug into the Divine power and love that is always within and around us.
