Positive power gives us the energy, the motivation, and the ability to make things happen.
This power comes from adopting a positive mental attitude, and committing to making positive choices- even in tough times.
A negative attitude has its own power- the power to drag you down, make you feel powerless, and even repel good things.
Negativity stops you from embracing the good things that surround you, and keeps you focusing on the bad things. It also keeps you trapped in limiting beliefs, and stops you from being open to seeing opportunities, and daring to take them.
We are magnetic beings, so if you want to magnetize good things, you need to work on creating positive power.
Positive power can be built- even when you don’t feel that you have much to be positive about. It’s a chicken and egg situation. Sometimes the positive feelings have to be created before the positive circumstances begin to appear.
The first step is to decide that you want to be more positive. All change comes from choice, so this decision is important. Just making a decision is not enough though, what will really bring results is sticking to it.
Actually rather than ‘sticking’ to a decision, in effect, we go on continually making the decision over and over again. In each new situation, mood, and moment, we need to keep deciding to be positive.
It is so easy to slip back into old habits, especially habits you have developed over a lifetime. Seeing the negative side of things is something that most of us have been trained to do since birth, so don’t expect that it will be quick or easy to quit doing this.
That being said though, like any habit, negativity can definitely be broken. After making the decision, breaking a habit takes behavioral reprogramming.
It is also more accurate to think of changing a habit, rather than breaking it. We cannot just get rid of a habit and leave an empty space. We need to replace it with something- especially when we are talking about practically your whole outlook on life.
You are not getting rid of a negative way of thinking, you are replacing it with a positive one!
If you are used to constantly noticing what’s wrong with a situation, or with you, catch yourself in the act, and consciously focus on something good. Rather than thinking of why you can’t do something, find a reason why you can.
If you actually think about it, I bet that you can find a positive alternative to your thoughts. It’s just that we are so used to letting our thoughts run amok, and not taking the time and effort to train them. Whenever you notice yourself starting with the negative self-talk, gently and firmly override it with a powerful positive affirmation.
It will take time, patience, and a lot of repetition to change your negative thoughts, beliefs, or habits to positive ones, but it can be done.
The rewards of creating a positive mindset include being able to make healthy and positive choices, to attract positive people and situations, and to enjoy the increased happiness and energy that positive power can bring.
