Emotional Freedom Technique Is Practical Self Help
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT is a form of therapy which has gained enormous popularity in recent times. EFT is based on the discovery by Dr. Roger Callahan that emotional discomfort is caused by a disruption in the mind/body energy system which creates an imbalance of energy. This imbalance then causes a negative, limiting, or self-defeating emotional response. To correct this energy imbalance, Dr. Callahan combined acupuncture techniques with kinesiology (the study of the mechanics of motion with respect to human anatomy) and developed Thought Field Therapy (TFT).
The founder of EFT, Gary Craig, was trained by Dr. Callahan and then streamlined TFT into Emotional Freedom Technique as it is widely used today. To learn more about the development, techniques, and uses of EFT, visit www.emofree.com . EFT is done by tapping on acupressure points along meridians, or pathways of energy, throughout the body while focusing on a specific problem or issue. This technique allows the mind/body energy system to be rebalanced and the energy becomes available so we can heal. EFT has been proven clinically effective as a simple yet powerful way of releasing fears, phobias, anxieties, anger, and all kinds of emotional and physical issues. I was introduced to this gentle and highly effective form of therapy about ten years ago by a wonderful psychologist. In the course of just a few sessions of therapy, the improvement that I experienced with various issues was amazing. I also learned the basic tapping technique, which I have continued to use on my own ever since, with great effect. Whenever I have issues or emotions troubling me, I find a quiet place, do some tapping, and within a few minutes feel a lot better. Emotional Freedom Technique has been successfully used in treating everything from depression and anxiety to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, grief, compulsions and addictions.EFT can also be used with great results to improve concentration, self-esteem, confidence, and emotional control. Even if you are dubious about therapy in general, or alternative therapies, I highly recommend you give EFT a try. It is simple and painless. You don’t necessarily need to go to a professional. The basic techniques are available online, and can be learned and applied quickly and easily. As with affirmations, the beauty of EFT is that the success of it does not depend on you ‘believing in it.’ With or without an open mind (preferably with!) just try it. Just as you do not need to believe in the law of gravity to watch objects fall to the ground, you do not have to believe in EFT to experience the healing and emotional freedom that this technique can bring. Discovering that it works though, will likely make you a ‘believer.’ Of course there is no guarantee, but everyone I know of that has tried Emotional Freedom Technique has experienced at least some level of benefit. If it so happens that it doesn’t work for you, you will have lost nothing. There is no one right way to happiness and emotional freedom that works for everyone. As always, listen to your intuition, follow your heart, and do what’s right for you.
