How to Do EFT Tapping
Have your say… leave a comment below after you read!
EFT tapping (otherwise known as Emotional Freedom Technique) is a simple, gentle, and effective method of creating emotional freedom, and releasing beliefs, thoughts, and feelings that can cause suffering in our lives. The technique works by tapping on acupressure points on the meridians (energy pathways) of the body to release emotional blockages. Tapping on these points while focusing on a specific belief or issue that is causing us distress or difficulty can free the blocked energy and allow healing. The following steps outline an EFT tapping procedure that can be used to promote healing of any area that is creating discomfort or dissatisfaction. Whether you want to use EFT on simple daily irritations such as being annoyed at your boss, or whether you apply it to serious issues in your life like depression, addictions or anxiety, this method can bring great results. EFT tapping can also be used to create more of the positive energy that can bring us what we want in our lives. EFT Tapping ProcedureForm an affirmation along the lines of this pattern, “Even though (belief/issue*), I deeply and completely accept myself.”
- First, repeat affirmation 3 times while rubbing just above the breastbone (there will probably be a spot that feels sore or tender).
Tap lightly and repeatedly on the following areas using two or three fingers while repeating the affirmation (one repetition for each area): - Inside corner of eyebrow
- Outside corner of eye
- Directly under eye
- Between nose and upper lip
- Between lower lip and chin
- Under lower part of collarbone
- Under the armpit on the side of the ribcage at breast level
Use one finger for tapping on the fingers of the opposite hand as follows, while repeating affirmation once for each finger:
- Outer edge of thumbnail,
- forefinger,
- middle finger
- and little finger (skip ring finger)
Return to using two fingers for tapping on the following areas: - ‘Karate Chop Point’ (the fleshy part on the side of the hand opposite where your thumb adjoins your hand). Tap on the opposite hand to the hand you tapped on in steps 9 through 12.
Find the soft area on back of the hand between the little finger and ring finger (known as the Gamut Point). Tap on the same hand which you tapped for steps 9 through 12. - Keep tapping on area while repeating only the belief/issue *. Move eyes from top to bottom and back up slowly, then from top to bottom right corner and back up, bottom left corner and back up. Circle eyes in one direction and then the other. Sing one line of a song (Happy Birthday works perfectly well if nothing else springs to mind), count to five, and sing the line again.
- Repeat tapping procedure from steps 2 through 13 (The Gamut Point #14 is not repeated).
- Take some cleansing breaths
- Notice how you feel
*examples of beliefs/issues: “I cannot have a good relationship,” “I am worried about money,” “I am depressed.”I hope that you find this guide to EFT tapping clear and easy to use.
