Annoyance Tells You What Is Not Working for You

Annoyance is something we would all rather live without. An annoying thing is, by definition, something that makes us frustrated and irritated. It is for this very reason that the irritating things in our lives can act as powerful motivators.Sometimes, to get ourselves to take action and to get off our butts and stop procrastinating can be a difficult task. Most of us are very good at ‘not putting off till tomorrow what can be put off till the day after,’ but this is hardly beneficial in achieving our goals. It takes effort and self-discipline to take action and often taking steps towards achieving your dreams requires stepping out of your comfort zone and making changes.
If you are simply mildly dissatisfied with an aspect of your life, it is usually much easier to just put up with it than to do something about changing it. Unless something is really bothering you, it can be very tempting to just ignore the discomfort, rather than summoning the courage and determination needed to make a change. On the other hand, if something is really driving you crazy, the frustration can build up a huge amount of energy. Most of us have a certain tolerance level for annoyance, and if a situation reaches that level, we will find ourselves galvanized into action. The key is to use the energy that has been created by frustration before it boils over and erupts into a non-productive outburst of anger. When you can feel your dissatisfaction building up in an area of your life, focus your attention on that energy and let your heart guide you towards a healthy way of channeling it. Like the grain of sand that irritates the oyster into making a pearl, the frustrations in our lives can provide the motivation and will-power to allow us to create something beautiful from a negative situation. It just takes determination to make something positive from a dissatisfying situation and a decision not to allow the aggravation you feel to build up so long that it creates a melt-down. Suppressed frustration can either result in an outbreak of anger, or sometimes an episode of depression. If we do not recognize and honor the feelings of annoyance that we are experiencing, they can reach a dangerous level. Some of us can be prone to violent expressions of anger that result from a toxic level of frustration. Others can be inclined to turn the anger and frustration inwards and as a result become depressed. To avoid exceeding your own limit of frustration, keep a watch on your feelings. If you know that you are unhappy with a certain situation, let a small amount of steam build up, and then use that to power you into a burst of action. Don’t let things get to the stage where you are past your boiling point. Think of the thing that is annoying you. Really focus on it and feel the energy build. Then turn your attention to the way that you would like to transform the situation and feel the energy you have created with your annoyance. Let this energy push you into a step of positive action- even a very small step is good. Everything in the world is energy, and one way to really change your life for the better is to take the negative energy of annoyance, and transform it into the positive energy of motivation. Figure out what you want to change, and make it happen!
